mid-break update

Thought I'd drop everyone a quick update. If you've come from the port of bremerton link, hello! welcome to Bremelore!

I am in the middle of my break right now. I am writing episodes and doing research, and once I have enough (4, maybe more) I will start producing season 3. The audio recording and Editing can be just as time consuming as the research, honestly, so it's easier to break seasons into two parts- Research, then production. takes a lot of the stress off

I am pleased to say after sniffing around breadcrumbs for two years, I have finally stumbled upon all the info I could need about the lion who lived in Bremerton (and a bonus second lion)! It's probably safe to say that here cause… no one reads this blog. lol.

I also picked up the book “Silent Siren: memoirs of a life saving mortician” by Matthew Franklin Sias. Mostly Bainbridge island stuff but it's fascinating. Having been employed making house calls all over BI, I follow the book and the locations really well. I even feel a small kinship towards him. obviously, nothing I do is remotely on his level. but I have no doubt I've been to the same places, to help the same sorts of people just with a different set of problems. I'm not sure that it will ever figure into the show but it's earned a place on the shelf. What a read!

as for Gorst, I've got a couple of thoughts rolling around. I picked up the indexed version of “Kitsap: A history” over christmas, which should make reference way easier. as a result, I have a spare copy of the older, not indexed version. I've also thought about reaching out to whomever it is that is running the City Of Gorst facebook page. it's gotten more active and the tidbits are fascinating. I'm not sure how to go about it though.

I've been thinking ahead to the christmas episode. while there's a lot of general history about town, there's not a lot of christmas specific history. I am thinking either Harvey's butter rum batter or Bremer's department store. When the old timers get to chatting about christmas yore, they always lament the loss of Bremer's.

One last tidbit for the day before I head off to work. I was walking down fourth street foward pacific last week and I noticed that the Y on the Roxy marquee was dark. The Y is the same letter that fell out of the can when I was a teenager. I have an old photo I took of it. It made me pause for a moment. Is the Y cursed?!

lol I know, that's silly, but it's what came to mind.

off to work! always looking forward to your questions. send me emails, send me voice messages! I want them! Hope everyone is having a lovely february.

-D.
